Walkers have reported several tortoise sightings and the herpetological population is also starting to wake up.

Posted - 20 April 2007 : 16:23:54 We get quite a few tortoises on the Somerset levels. This one is about 1 metre long. Handsome beast, isn't he? Reminds me of someone.

Posted - 20 April 2007 : 10:22:38 Some time since I've seen a live tortoise; but some time since I've been on Symi in the spring. I have a tiny shell no more than 4cm long which I picked up in the area near George's farm as-was (beneath Stavrou tou Polemou) a couple of Septembers ago - one little baby which never made it to adulthood. As for the Hissers - whenever we've seen them they disappear pretty quickly. A case of mutual agreement. |

Posted - 20 April 2007 : 08:17:25 Nice to hear about the tortoises, not so sure about the Hissing Sids - although the only snakes I've ever seen were fortunately very dead! |
