ANES has just updated the website and the Symi ferry will soldier on for a while longer.

So panic over for Wednesday arrivals!

Oh no, I'm still in panic. As far as I can see there's no evening ferry on wednesdays and our plane is in Rhodes at 4 pm.

If you think you are too small to make a difference, try sleeping in a closed room with a mosquito

The schedule does show the Symi leaving at the normal 18:30 time next Wednesday (20/06/07) evening. Look at the last entry on the schedule.

From Adriana's blog today:

"an inconvenient lack of 18.30 connections from Rhodes to Symi."

Inconvenient? Crikey! I hope things change soon.

So do we all as at the moment the schedule is geared more towards the day trippers than people who actually want to stay on the island.

Nice to see the Symi II has a permanent place on the ANES page. Has the ferry problem been sorted yet? We have not heard it mentioned lately

The country shuts down for August but they're calling an early election in September. I wonder if the votes of marooned islanders will carry any clout

Today's Katherimini thinks that the election will be held on 16th September rather than the 23rd. What a shame. I shall miss all the excitement and the free beer.

Free beer?? In the past election day was 'dry' and people were seen drinking un-coffee-coloured liquid out of cups and mugs. We've already made a note to check the stocks the day before (assuming the date is the 16th)...

Apparently there is no evening ferry to Symi on Wednesday 10th October so I'm in a bit of trouble. I see that only the Proteus is still alive in October. Is the timetable likely to be updated nearer the time?

Anes has a creepy habit this year of issuing the schedules piecemeal.

At one stage it looked as though only the Aegli would be running for the season. then they put up all the other boats and everyone heaved a huge sigh of relief - even if travellers on Sundays, Mondays and Thursdays suffered from the absence of evening boats.

They are probably still thrashing out the Symi's schedule.

The ANES schedule says that the Symi to Symi is running at 18.30 on Weds 12 Sept but when I went to book it online, it doesn't offer it as an option. Does this mean it isn't running?! Aaaaaaaaaaagh.

Arriving on 12th Sept. also. Last year with Manos we got the 3 o'clock Dodecanese Express or Pride (can't remember which) over which was great and we are hoping the same will happen next Wed., but if not then we it would be the 6.30 ferry, but if that is not running then aaaaaagh too!!!

ANES assures me that they will have the October schedules for the Aegli and the Symi boats up in the next week or so.
