Now that is really bad news! There was a rumour last October that she wanted to sell, but she told me then that - although she would like to - she needed to continue with the business to support her sons through university and their military service.

Something has obviously changed: I hope for her sake that it's a better opportunity for earning money, that doesn't keep her on her feet all evening, rather than something unpleasant like a deterioration in her health.

I wonder if "those two" will do a Nellie Melba?

If this message causes confusion, my work here is done.

Oh no . . . can't believe this news. Zoi's is our favourite place to eat. We've told our family all about it and were looking forward to introducing them to Zoi when we all come in September to celebrate my **th (big) birthday.

When I was at Nimborio I noticed that Maria's taverna was having a very thorough redecoration inside and out. I hope that doesn't indicate the answer to your question !

There's a report on Neil & Toby's 'Symi Dream' site (http://symidream.com) saying that Zoe has said that, while she has indeed put the business up for sale, she intends meanwhile to open (as usual) in May.

So I shall be eating there as often as possible (while I still can), and no doubt many of the rest of you who have lamented her closure will too. The impression that I got during my recent visit to the island (though I didn't have the opportunity to speak to Zoe herself) is that her planned longer-term sale has indeed been brought forward by accelerated health problems. So I shall be asking what I can do as a customer to help her - e.g. perhaps walk over to her to discuss my order to save her coming to my table, fetch my food from the kitchen when told that it is ready.

Other people might have their own ideas too.

Perhaps Zoe could emulate Roula in the old days.
That is, remain seated & not move one inch away from the old Jewish Piano....
OMG, is that PC?
