One evening about 10 days ago, 8.30 - 9.00pm Margaret Kojak and myself were going up to Horio so we went to the taxi rank. One taxi available, good so we said Horio please to the driver[ not a regular driver, about 30/35 tall in checky shirt ] He replied NO I will not do a short journey. We have never experienced this in all our years visiting. Possibly we should have taken the taxi reg. number and reported him, but we ran to catch the bus. Comments invited!

I just hope he stood there until midnight waiting to get a better fare. Since the taxis seem to have opted not to bother with Nomborio, where did he think he was going to get a better offer? The likelihood of anyone wanting to go to Panormitis at that time of night would seem slight, to say the least. I won't repeat the name I called him but I'm glad that, despite forgetting a lot of Greek words from the early years in Symi I have total recall of all the rude ones! |

| It's an offence to deny a passenger a ride if they are working,this is what happened to me in Crete we had arrived by boat from Santorini to Iraklio in Crete ,as passengers were getting taxis i called a few and they denied me ,on the fourth go and being the only ones left on the port i was approached by a plains cloaths police man and he asked me why i didn't get a taxi and i told him ,he said to me that the reason was because your hotel was 5 minutes away which he showed me from the port but he also mentioned that it was an offense and he said to give him my details including passport in which time two more port police arrived with the details of the four taxi drivers and he said that each one will be fined 200 eu each for refussing you .i thanked him and he called a taxi which came witihn 2 minutes and helped us with cases and Alexander too .the fee 6 eu we gave him 20 . |
