We were invited to Hugo's autumn soiree[ that is me and wor lass, common as muck us geordies ] We were treated to some lovely food and some of us even took bottles for the host. Early on we wus treated to a life resumee of a Mills and boon writer, but we were not able to say "put is in ya next book on page 115. Then I got a rollicking off Symi dream Neil, who was wearing shorts shoes and socks due to last years lap top dancing accident, for wearing trousers, what did he want, y-fronts. Two blocked sinks, the attendance of a plumber, who aparently fixed them in the first place. The cooks aka Jennifer and Katerina the bottle washer aka Kojak who should have been wearing his stiff collar. Hit on the head by a flying mobile from the upper balcony next door. The hole in the floor took a bit of negotiating, especially for the lady who had just had a hip/knee replacement lately. I forget which as the wine was taking over. We retired to the Harani for one last one- famous last words, three hours later home by 3.30 am Could I get a job writing for a living, not likely, I'm in the local too much. Hope you get some fun out of my ramble

| Given my propensity for falls it's a miracle I didn't plummet through the trap door in the hall or the even more deadly hole in the kitchen floor. A split-level party may seem glamorous but I felt like a ships' monkey as I scampered up 2 sets of greek stairs (ie ladders) balancing plates of food. It seemed that whenever a corkscrew was needed (and I could only find one in Hugo's drawers - I mean the kitchen ones of course), it was on the other level. More scampering involved and the facecloth/towel which I had cunningly taken with me was soon wetter than I was. A pity more people didn't partake of the beef, lovingly and immaculately carved by me with a less than sharp knife on the edge of a small but crowded table, but there you are. Actually, apart from the odd bits left over at the end of the cut I didn't feel like eating it myself. A pleasant night was had by all and I enjoyed it, outside the kitchen with Adriana et al, inside the crowded lounge with Hugo and others and finally, down below on the much cooler quayside with Willie, Margaret, Jennifer and Katerina - a bit like the staff party. |

| Oh. I forgot about the young lady who won the prize for balancing the most food on one plate. |
