| Yes Vickie they are everywhere and you have to be very careful of them. They are particularly fond of getting in to you bed at night as they like dark warm places so keep the sheets tight around your neck! |

Look when you go abroad, the hotter it is, the more grizzly the creatures get. And that's just the locals. Wait until you come across a few of the uber-friendly ex-pats. Symi is beautiful, wonderful, utterly unique you will fall in love with it. Creepie crawlies 'an all. Just relax and ENJOY! What you don't know, you can't worry about. Except of course when one these furry b.u.g.g.e.r.s joins you in bed one dark night. Now that can be a bit disconcerting!! |

| Of course they're winding you up. The Symi Spiders won't get into bed with you. They prefer to pick up the bed and carry it outside where it's cooler. Very helpful animals. |

| In certain cases, both! You needn't worry too much about spiders. I've never heard of any reported deaths from incey-wincey bites (although they'd probably cover those up) As Richard said, they are only likely to bother you if they move the furniture to get at you. I won't mention giant cockroaches dropping on your shoulder in the shower.... |

| We always leave a bit of 'scramble netting' over the side of the bath and the sinks - helps cut down on corpses |

I've never seen any spiders on Symi. Other creepy things, but that's another story
The only thing that really scared the BEEEP out of me was a snake. At one time almost two decades ago I encountered a real living one, and two years ago I saw a dead one.. Killed by a huge stone thrown by an elderly lady

Don't argue with idiots. They drag you down to their level and beat you with experience. |

Quite right too. It's impossible not to enjoy beautiful Symi. I particularly liked your comment about drinking a bit more. You will obviously fit in perfectly.
I was a little worried about Adriana's advice on netting and corpses. Perhaps she will explain whose. I've seen quite a few of the little darlings over the years but don't worry, they are not venomous and are easy to pick up, even if this needs at least two strong people. When are you going?
Try the Chat Room after 10 pm. There are usually a couple of regulars around who will answer questions and (very occasionally) you will get a sensible reply there. |

| We saw a spider one night, I don't think it was fully grown and it sat still for its photo taking. My husband had in the meantime run off and left me! |
Experience suggests it doesn't matter so much how you got here, as what you do after you arrive. |
