July 1 is CANADA DAY! This is our 142nd birthday. A public holiday and always a big party from sea to sea to sea ending up with huge fireworks displays across the nation. We all wear red, put up flags and celebrate our good fortune in being Canadians - as part of our National Anthem says: "God keep our land glorious and FREE...."

| Just come back from the fireworks, great display over the reflective North Saskatchewan River. Our temperature today just about matched Stonehaven. This global warming is a funny thing, we had the 2nd coldest February on record, it stayed pretty miserable through to May 2, when we had a lovely day - that was Spring! Then it went very cool again and has been very indifferent to date. BUt, today was nice. Normally, our temperature is hovering around 26-28C at this time of year and usually warms up into the thirties. Yes to the dram! I raise my glass! And so to bed, it is now 11.40 p.m. |

Lorks MacDuff you could be describing Scotland's weather to date!! Frosts here went on for months so our growing season has been very late in starting. Normally at my home we have ducklings in the stream by May and a second brood by now. This year i have only seen one brood - about a week ago - very strange. Duck mum usually leaves her first brood with me to finish raising on corn and b******s off to have the next lot. All quite worrying. On a cheerier note you seem to have had a good Canada Day. Good - that's what it is all about. |
