It's Guy Fawkes night in the UK, Kon, also known as Bonfire Night. Guy Fawkes was leader of a group who tried to blow up Parliament with King James I and all the members in 1605. They were caught in the act of placing barrels of gunpowder in the cellers under Westminster. Since then it's been a tradition to have a large bonfire and burn a "Guy".

My hubby is in Lewes right now - I am sad because I can't stand long enough yet so cannot go- I love it because it is pagen, mad, bad and fantastic...I know the police (spoken in the scots way "polis") would love to have it banned, but it is written in Lewes's constitutional law that they can do it, so they do - it raises lots of money for charity as well, and it a great spectical. I am getting pics thick and fast of what is going on, will try to post them over next few days, we shall see. I am a catholic but I still love it..the dressing up, the bonfire societies, the marching and parades and most of all the fireworks...ohh wish I was there..and as for Katie Price - she deserves to be burnt - (might just pop along to Edenbridge only about 10 miles)...as do many others including most MPs...

Thanks for asking Kojak, haven't felt like writing much sleep a lot but now have finished the chemo, leg is now mending albeit it is taking a long time, have started hydro physio, hard work, but am getting there slowly - still can't fly for at least another few months - so working on next year for BIG BIG hols, probably Sept / Oct as we will be driving to France in June for a month it is the Le Mans classic next year and the Lotus is going to play. But I had a lovley telephone call from my friend of 27 years, Kokona (from Kokona hotel)today which cheered me up no end, lovely to hear from her and to get all the family news. I had forgotten this weekend is one of the busiest for the Parnomitis festival. Dare I ask how is the patio going - is it all finished? You lot have kept me amused even made me laugh out loud at times with all your chatter when I have looked on the site to see what is going on. Seems like we have many more members these days and feel like I have lost touch a bit so will try to come on more often...

Good to hear things are on the mend, Poppet. Work on the patio has ground to a halt due to the damned weather. The platform is done, I just need to get the flags cut to size for the edging and then lay the top. My pal's stonecutter twitched briefly and then died on the only fine dry day!!! The language was as blue as the sky!. Just to add to the general mess the plumber is at this moment demolishing the bathroom to install a new bathroom suite and tile the walls... Do come in and chat when you feel like it!
