| I think that one could be debated at length, Mike - everyone has their own favourite! It says a lot for the island that there are so many good places to eat! I have a lot of "bests" Giorgios in Chorio for atmosphere (although once again the EEC has stifled local tradition by banning unhygenic customers from the kitchen), Mythos for something special, Yiannis and the Neraida for good food and good value... the list goes on! |

| I read it this morning and it was not very clear but I think it has to be the Mythos. OK, I'm biased. Who has been banned from Giorgio's kitchen, Kojak? Tell us more. |

| We assumed it must be Tholos. Through the boatyard and on to the point... Good food but best on the island??? |

| Apparently Richard, since the recent revamp of the kitchen at Giorgios, Health & Safety (who else!) have said that he can no longer allow the public into the kitchen. Not even those who wear freshly laundered socks with their sandals! |

Great news Allan. I'm pleased Giorgios have done the Greek thing and ignored stupid, interfering, idiotic legislation drafted by someone thousands of miles away who wouldn't know a Greek Taverna if it hit them on the head with a plate of moussaka etc. ... etc.... Not that I have a thing about unnecessary legislation telling us how much curve there should be in a cucumber..... |

I think you are right, Mike, I have never seen the steps of Kali Strata from the boats, and water melon trucks coming down the hills? |
If you think you are too small to make a difference, try sleeping in a closed room with a mosquito |

Venetian houses? Did they actually go to Symi or just read a book about Corfu? |

| 'soberly dressed office workers'...?! the only time we see 'suits' on Symi is when the big whigs come to call! |

Another example of the lazy journalism seen so often in travel pages.
Why bother writing notes during the freeby holiday when you can cobble something together from the guidebooks when you get back.
At least it's not as bad as an American review I read a couple of years ago which spoke about visitors being taken up the Kalistrata on donkeys! |

Well, Lindos has an acropolis and so do we...
The random use of the word 'city' or 'town' in descriptions can also be misleading ...every so often I meet lost yachtsmen resolutely tramping up the Panormitis road convinced by an Italian pilot book that there is a city on Symi. Faces fall when they discover Chorio and Yialos are it...! |
