Adriana, I'm being Little Miss Nosey here, that boat moored up just down from the Symi Visitor at the moment appears to have a small crane/winch type attachment, what does this boat bring to the island or is it a fishing boat? No doubt it's a regular visitor but I can't recall if I've seen it when I've been staying on the island.

Yesterday is experience, tomorrow is hope... today is getting from one to the other.

Isn't that the Symi Fish II? The crane is used for many other things than just fishing

Morning all!

It's not just a dodgy plug - the island's power supply is a little deranged at the moment with the stormy weather and there were a few lightning strikes earlier in the week. Then yesterday the internet went down - we could only get .gr websites, the rest of the world was inaccessible.

Welcome to winter in the last outpost of Europe!

But at least we don't have a 3 metre North Sea storm surge to worry about...

The secret to survival is a well developed sense of the ridiculous.

Thanks for the update, Adriana

We're expecting the storm to hit us this afternoon and I'm about to go out and save what can be saved from the garden

Why cant humans hibernate like the bears?!

According to the early morning news this morning, the storm surge hasn't been as bad as feared and flooding so far has been minimal. No doubt our (esteemed?) leader will be claiming the credit. Even King Canute didn't go that far!

I thought it was unlike you Adriana not to respond to our cries of help re the webcam and things did seem very quiet your end.

Sounds like you've had quite a turbulent week one way or another ....looking at your little forecast below the webcam picture, I can see things are still likely to be unsettled for a few days. Still wish I was on Symi now though as I would like to get a feel for the island out of season.....part of a long term plan
