Dikissi,
You probably got lost because the sign was leaning over and pointing in the wrong direction. Must have been that damned ginger turkey again.

How did this appear as a new topic? I tried replying to the old one.

Beautiful, Richard, but I actually didn't get lost. On the way to Drakos, we found a celebration going on at a monastery and joined in and discovered, guess what? more relatives. My next trip to Greece I am going to make that trip to Dracos. Is there anything there?

Thanks for the photos Richard. How far is the Drakos area from the sign post? Is it a very steep scramble to get there? |

Forgive my ignorance, but what was Drakos? A monastary? Some history would be nice |
Don't argue with idiots. They drag you down to their level and beat you with experience. |

I never went up there even I have passed by many times on my way to Pedi but you can always guess. A dragons place in the mountains? Or a monastery? I think I will visit next time and take a look. Mayby its only a farm house, it mostly look like it. But I'm sure there were dragons at Symi some time ago |
If you think you are too small to make a difference, try sleeping in a closed room with a mosquito |

| It was a castle of sorts, a fortified area. I don't know whether it was occupied by a dragon in recent times although I did come across some peculiar animals when walking down through the Pedi Valley. The red and blue spots may have been its spoor. I have not yet checked to see if it is listed on the SV Property for Sale Page. |

To answer the question, it is quite a pleasant walk along a footpath, no scramble required |

It seems to be pre-hellenic and although what is left is certainly impressive, it is more likely to have been a private villa than a fortification as you can't see the entrance to Pedi bay at all so no advance warning of pirates etc.
The signposts have not fared too well in the recent floods but will probably be reinstated at the beginning of the next tourist season. The first one, at the turn off from the motor road, has been lying down for a while now! |

Here's the walk down from the motor road to Pedi, trying to follow Frances' red and blue dots. I think they are in the right order.
